Howling with Huskies: And Other Ways to Feel Good

Dog mushing brings culture, history, sports, and, of course, families together. It's a great starting point for talking to your children about traditions and the uniqueness of the beautiful place we call home. It's also a great time to teach your children more about taking care of themselves, using the analogy offered by sled dogs and mushers.

And now there is an exciting new tool for you to do just that! Written by Dr. Linda Chamberlain (author, musher, and scholar), Howling with Huskies and Other Ways to Feel Good is an ACT-sponsored illustrated children’s book blending storytelling, dog mushing, and skill-building activities to empower children with simple tools for self-calming and emotional regulation.

What can three Alaskan husky sled dogs teach characters Galena and her younger brother, Kimmo, about working with difficult emotions, coping skills for stress, and feeling good? Learn about Kimmo’s secret howl and other techniques that can be used anywhere, anytime—at school, on the go, and at home in this brand new book!

We hope to be able to offer this resource in other languages soon. If you or someone you know is interested in helping us translate the book, please contact us here.
